Going to see a therapist for the first time can feel daunting and out of your comfort zone. Our first session is to meet and discuss what you might like from our sessions, this is also an opportunity to ask questions and get a general sense of how we would work together.
As a qualified EMDR, CBT and person centred therapist we look at whatever comes up at your own pace. This may be something you're going through right now or issues you have experienced in the past and this is affecting you today. Some clients don't know what they want from counselling but know they want to feel happier or more confident. Some clients have specific issues and want to work proactively in a solution focused way and this is where my CBT practise helps. EMDR therapy is trauma focused which works on processing unresolved trauma memories, EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organisation for working with trauma. Ultimately therapy is individual and my goal is to work together so you're not facing this on your own.
