Going to see a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting and out of your comfort zone. Our first session is to meet and to discuss what you might like from our sessions. Our first session is to meet and have an overall look at what issues you are facing, this is also an opportunity to ask questions and get a general sense of how we would work together.
I work as a CBT therapist and person centred counsellor and we look at whatever comes up at your own pace. This may be something you're going through right now or issues you have experienced in the past and this is affecting you today. Some clients don't know what they want from counselling but know they want to feel happier or more confident. Some clients have specific issues and want to work proactively in a solution focused way and this is where my CBT practise helps. Ultimately therapy is individual and my goal is to work together so you're not facing this on your own.
